NLSIU & CPCB Training Programme on Environmental Legislation [Feb 3-7, Bangalore]: Register by Jan 10
The entire training programme is designed for Five (5) days specifically for delivering lecture and discussions on case studies. During the initial sessions, the focus would be on understanding the Constitution, interpretation and the jurisprudential background to the topics. Emphasis would be on environmental legislations including Environment Protection Act, 1986; Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. Discussions on several contemporary issues and developments in the area of environmental law and management, both at the national and international level would be taken up. Recent judicial orders and decisions would be taken up as a part of discussion. Resource persons from law academia, practitioners, activists, industry experts are chosen to deliver sessions, to make the effort inter-disciplinary. The technical sessions are of 90 minutes duration. The mode of discourse is mix of lecture and discussion method. The training program would also focus on a field trip to a nearby facility, followed by discussions.
Participants will have ample scope to learn from each other’s experience post training sessions. Participants will be assigned a set of practical problems. These are guided sessions, woven within the programme. The participants are informed well in advance to prepare a small documentation of environmental challenges of their locale and also some solutions if found by members of their locality. They are asked to share the challenges along with probable solutions etc., with other participants. The session will bring out to the fore multiple environmental challenges and the possible solutions. The participants will be able to understand gamut of environmental challenges and also learn from comparison with others experiences. The programme will try to put the entire discussions and presentations in a frame work. All the participants are housed under one roof in National Law School of India University’s International Training Centre. The participants are given ample space to interact during their stay for five days, after formal sessions of the training programme.
